20th Todmorden Scouts make up the third section of our scouting family, for young people aged 10 and a half to 14. We meet on a Tuesday evening from 7:30pm to 9pm at Castle Hill Primary School. During these meetings we work towards activity badges and core challenge badges, we also learn core life skills to prepare us for the challenges ahead.

The section is run by Troop leader Matthew Marshall and is assisted by  Tammy, Allen, Benny and Lawrence. They provide a fun and challenging environment with an active Scouting programme, with emphasis on personal challenge and adventure. Scouts are encouraged to find their independence but also to start developing their leadership skills, to make new friends and to respect each other. There is also the challenge of attending Scout camp, learning new survival skills such as: Campfire Cooking and Shelter Building, maybe producing the future Bear Grylls.

The Scout Programme includes many activities and badges such as:

  • Hiking
  • Water Sports
  • Climbing and Abseiling
  • Cooking
  • Expeditions
  • First Aid
  • Charity Events
